Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions. The CCNP certification is appropriate for those with at least one year of networking experience who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Those who achieve CCNP have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.

The CCNP is made up of three exams, the 300-101 ROUTE, 300-115 SWITCH and 300-135 TSHOOT. With each exam taking around 120 to 140 minutes.
The ROUTE 300-101 exam will certify that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to use advanced IP addressing and routing in implementing scalable and secure Cisco ISR routers connected to LANs and WANs. The exam also covers configuration of secure routing solutions to support branch offices and mobile workers.
The SWITCH 300-115 exam will certify you have important knowledge and skills necessary to plan, configure and verify the implementation of complex enterprise switching solutions using Cisco's Campus Enterprise Architecture. The SWITCH exam also covers secure integration of VLANs, WLANs, voice and video into campus networks.
The TSHOOT 300-135 exam will certify that you have important knowledge and skills necessary to (1) plan and perform regular maintenance on complex enterprise routed and switched networks and (2) use technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform network troubleshooting.
In 2022, Cisco completed a study targeted at understanding the value of Cisco certification for employers of Cisco certified professionals. Designed to measure employer perceptions about employees with Cisco certifications, the study specifically focused on how employers measure the value of Cisco certified individuals in their business. Three-quarters of 200 network managers surveyed concurred that their Cisco certified employees are more knowledgeable and more valuable than their non-certified employees.

Within the UK, the average salary of a CCNP certified professional is £55,000pa. The average salary for an CCNP graduate is estimated to be £35,000pa.
