The Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, a network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry-level network support positions, the starting point for many successful careers in networking. The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium-size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections and open you up to many new career prospects.

There are no prerequisites for this course, however, a basic understanding of computer systems and network technologies is beneficial.
The CCENT consist of a single exam, the 100-105 ICND1. This exam tests your knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on the operation of IP data networks, LAN switching technologies, IPv6, IP routing technologies, IP services (DHCP, NAT, ACLs), network device security, and basic troubleshooting. The exam is made up from the following modules:

Within the UK, the average salary of a CCENT certified professional is £37,500pa. The average salary for an CCENT graduate is estimated to be £25,500pa.
