The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA 200-301): Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions is an international certification program for entry-level network engineers that helps maximize your investment in foundational networking knowledge and increase the value of your employer's network and IT infrastructure.

The new CCNA Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions course provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to install, operate and troubleshoot a small to medium branch network. The curriculum includes LAN Switching Technologies, Troubleshooting, WAN Technologies and IP Services (SNMP, Syslog, FHRP). The curriculum also includes the Operation of IP Data Networks, IP Addressing, Network Security, Basic Troubleshooting and DHCP, NAT, ACLs and other IP Routing Technologies.

The CCNA certification helps build the necessary foundational knowledge required for job roles such as network engineer, network specialist or network administrator and provides students with network infrastructure know how.

By the end of this certification you will have detailed knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, basic migration of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts. In addition, the course provides the necessary knowledge and skills required for the following protocols: IP, OSPF, ACLs (Ethernet and Access Control Lists), VLANs, Frame Relay, Serial Line Interface Protocol and EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol.

The CCNA - Implementing and Administering Cisco Solutions consists of one 120 minutes exam, the 200-301. The exam syllabus will test and feature the following key areas:

  • Identify the components of a computer network and explain their basic characteristics
  • Describe the features and functions of the Cisco IOS Software
  • IPv4 and IPv6 addressing scheme
  • Implement basic configurations on a Cisco router
  • Identify and resolve common switching and routing networking issues
  • Describe network and device architectures and explain virtualisation
  • Describe the smart network management solutions like Cisco DNA Center, SD-Access and SD-WAN
  • Outline threat defense technologies

Designed to measure employer perceptions about employees with Cisco certifications, the study specifically focused on how employers measure the value of Cisco certified individuals in their business. Three-quarters of 200 network managers surveyed concurred that their Cisco certified employees are more knowledgeable and more valuable than their noncertified employees.

Here are 6 employee performance metrics that were considered as part of the study:

  • Speed in completing network-related IT projects - A majority of network managers in the survey indicated that Cisco certified employees complete network-related IT projects more quickly than noncertified employees.
  • Speed in resolving technical problems - Cisco certified employees were found to be much quicker at resolving technical problems.
  • Quickness in coming up to speed during onboarding - A high percentage (78 percent) of network managers in the survey rated their Cisco certified staff as coming up to speed faster than noncertified employees.
  • Effectiveness in completing network-related IT projects - The network managers in the survey viewed Cisco certified employees as completing network-related projects more successfully.
  • Effectiveness in resolving technical problems - The network managers in the survey confirmed that their Cisco certified employees resolve technical problems more effectively.
  • Employee performance metrics overall - Networking managers attributed, at the least, a 37 percent average improvement rating for these performance metrics from Cisco certified employees.

In addition, the Cisco certified employees were found to be more likely to innovate with new ideas and creating new opportunities and solutions for their projects.
